Department of Sanskrit
About Department:
The Department of Sanskrit of Mahitosh Nandy Mahavidyalaya has started its journey since 2008 under the Calcutta University with this objective ‘sā vidyā yā vimuktaye’ i.e “Education means freedom”. In its initiation the department has introduced undergraduate General course only. In the year of 2010, the department has introduced undergraduate Honours course. Here the Students are coming not only from the local area (Jangipara) but also from other neighboring area like Jagatvallavpur(11km), Masat(17), Seakhala(12km), Rahimpur(5km), Haripal(16km) etc to learn the correct process for acquiring knowledge. This Department has also been caring for the weaker and marginalized students of the society which has made the purpose of establishing the institute a complete success. Presently the department has more than 500 students. To facilitate proper academic support, there is one Assistant Professor along with three State Aided College Teachers (SACT).
